Reducing Our Carbon Impact: Our Targets Validated by the SBTi!

Scientific Validation of Our Climate Trajectory

Faced with climate change and the biodiversity crisis, the pastry desserts sector must reinvent itself to remain a part of everyone’s plate in 2050. That’s why, for the past two years, we’ve been building an ambitious decarbonisation strategy aligned with the latest scientific data. This rigorous work has just been recognised: our emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the international benchmark for climate trajectories.

Key Terms to Better Understand Our Approach

Let’s start with a bit of vocabulary!

  • GHG = Greenhouse Gases
  • FLAG = Emissions from Forest, Land and Agriculture
  • Scope 1, 2, 3 = Direct or indirect emissions related to a company’s activities
  • ACT Step by Step Methodology = A framework for aligning corporate strategies with climate goals
  • SBTi = Science Based Targets initiative (link: https://sciencebasedtargets.org)

Our 2030 Targets, Validated by the SBTi

Using 2022 as our baseline year, our targets to achieve by 2030 are:

  • Reduce absolute GHG emissions from scopes 1 and 2 (energy and industrial processes) by 9%
  • Reduce GHG emissions per tonne of product sold in scope 3 (excluding FLAG emissions) by 6%
  • Reduce absolute GHG emissions from agricultural raw materials (FLAG) by 3%

A Rigorous Method to Structure Our Approach

To meet these ambitious carbon reduction targets, we’ve adopted a structured and rigorous approach. By following the ACT Step by Step methodology, we have:

✅ Accurately assessed the carbon impact of our activities across all production sites for scopes 1, 2, 3, and FLAG
✅ Identified the most relevant decarbonisation levers
✅ Built a roadmap aligned with our targets, contributing to limiting global warming to 1.5°C

Three Pillars to Transform Our Business Model

Our approach is built around three key pillars:

  1. Low-Carbon Cakes and Desserts
Innovating and developing the dessert of tomorrow: R&D projects to create and market low-carbon options.
  2. Efficient Production
Leading by example in operations: preventing and reducing energy and resource consumption, and optimising waste management.
  3. Sharing and Communication
Empowering our teams, raising awareness among customers, and engaging stakeholders by sharing our values and targets.

A Commitment That Drives and Obliges Us

The validation of our decarbonisation trajectory by the SBTi both motivates and commits us to continue our efforts, in line with the challenges of our sector and the expectations of society.
